Winding down

Wednesday afternoon we did take some time off… we were going to close for lunch and not reopen that afternoon so we could see a bit of the town and the beautiful countryside. Well, as usual, it is not so easy to shut down when planned… but by 3 or so we were done and off to explore! Some of us hitched a ride up to a banyan tree with lots of exposed roots, then hiked further up to a waterfall. We then walked all the way back to town, enjoying the amazing views and being greeted by all we met on the road. One called me ‘doctor’ in Spanish, and I initially wondered at that, not recognizing him as someone we’d treated, but then realized we were the only ‘gringos’ in the area so it was a pretty good guess!

A little sightseeing

Our Suburban limo takes us from the hotel to the “tree with a thousand roots”

We see this farmhouse along the road on our hike. Note the long wooden plows leaning on the house.
