A big travel day today… got up early to see the beach while everything was quiet. Very nice – one thing I miss in Colorado is the ocean!

We stayed at a cute little hotel last night, just a block from the beach. We arranged with the hotel owner for a taxi to take the six of us to the airport at 6:45am. He said it was all set up. At 6am he again said it was all set up. At 6:45 he said the taxi would be any minute. At 7am he said they were on the way. At 7:05 he left the building… going down to the beach frontage road to hail a cab. He finally found one – a little car that couldn’t have fit all our luggage, let alone six people! So three of us went in that cab, and the last three dragged bags the block down to the beach road and found another cab. We got to the airport 25 minutes before the plane was scheduled to leave, and got on! Who needs caffeine to wake up in the morning?

We flew from Trujillo to Lima, had a few hours in the airport, then back in the air to fly almost over Trujillo on our way to Quito, Ecuador. I am including one shot of our plane in Quito – the sky was so blue, the town really pretty!

I don’t have many pictures today, but I’ll just say we’ve had a great day traveling and are staying in a beautiful little hotel in Quito. Tomorrow to the jungle!
